A $2-million blitz is part of the $9.4-million funding injection recently announced by Premier, Geoff Gallop, for a concerted worldwide campaign to make WA Australia’s premier tourism State. The combined cinema, subscription TV, internet, and free-to-air TV campaign is the biggest WA has ever undertaken in the interstate market. The campaign will run for several months.
The 30-second ‘Real Thing’ advertisement focuses on WA’s strengths; its pristine environment, natural attractions, unique experiences and the fact that it is less commercial than many other holiday destinations.
“Last year, interstate visitor numbers to WA topped one million for the first time,” says Tourism Minister Mark McGowan. He hopes this campaign, together with the extra flights to Perth announced by Qantas, will see that significantly increased.
A large contingent of delegates from the Eastern States will be in Perth for the Australian Tourism Exchange – Australia’s largest tourism trade event, to be held at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre on June 18-24.
