Barb Bunnett from the Loch Sport Community House’s University of the Third Age (U3A)group has alerted us to this ’60+’ development in the travel industry.
Apparently there is an increasing number of requests for longer ‘stay put’ style holidays where mature age travellers can ‘chill out and relax’. Some interstate coach trips are possibly too long and too expensive for many older travellers who have probably already been to Kakadu etc.
‘Young at Heart Holidays’ is responding to this gap in the travel market and has recently taken on a long term lease on a property with a stunning view over the entrance at Lakes Entrance in East Gippsland.
They will continue normal operations with this fairly large motel and book out blocks to meet the response to a marketing campaign for a ‘sixty and over’ resort.
The Lakes Entrance holiday is designed to sit between the longer trips and the shorter, cheaper seniors’ coach tours which are typically 3-4 day trips to provincial cities such as Mildura or Ballarat. A range of packages will vary in length and include the option of short bus trips to the many attractions close to Lakes Entrance.
