Low cost carrier Tiger Airways, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, is planning four return services a week between Singapore and Darwin from 19 December 2005. This means an extra 720 seats between, an increase of nearly 40% in weekly international seat capacity into Darwin from a major international hub for travellers.
Tiger Airways and the Territory have agreed to a three year joint marketing program, with the NT Government committing $350,000 a year over the next three years to promote the new service. The link will provide more travel options for Territorians and Tiger Airways CEO says it will provide people in countries such as Vietnam with ‘the boast factor’ to be able to say ‘I have been to Australia’.
