The NT’s January weather has set new climate records. Alice Springs has had its hottest January on record and to the north a tropical low pressure system has delivered heavy soaking.
Even the desert is blooming and Rob Cook of Supplejack Station says at his place things have come to life. They have had to use round-up to spray the airstrip and to spray around buildings because the lawn mowers were wearing out the blades trying to keep the grass down around the house paddocks.
“We have had 44 inches for the past four months. And we had 239 ml in one night which is bloody near 10 inches. For here alone we have broken a lot of records rain wise.”
