Queensland report on access for the disabled available soon
After writing about Frog Gully Cottages – a start-up tourism business – and the care taken to make this accommodation ‘disabled friendly’, I discovered this morning that the Survey mentioned has closed and the findings are currently being collated.
Sheila King from the Access for All Alliance tells me that when they discovered Access Disability Week was a Queensland event only, they decided not to wait till the Survey’s July completion date.
Instead they plan to use the publicity surrounding the $181 million the Federal Government is spending on overseas tourism promotion to publish the Survey and make their point. “Our Survey …is not kind to the tourism industry” says Sheila, “This time is ripe if we want it to make an impact”.
The report will be published in a few weeks on www.accessforall.org.au and I will pass on the main thrust here. Have you had any experiences you care to comment on?
