Indigenous Stock Exchange call to entrepreneurs

Ngarda Trading Floor – Roebourne, Western Australia, June 21-22, 2006

This Trading Floor will be the first to be sponsored by an Indigenous corporation, Ngarda Civil and Mining (NCM). Run by BAMA ISX, the proceedings will go to a national audience through Goolarri Television. Projects to be presented include:

• mining training initiatives
• community and economic development initiatives
• a community enterprise to support the aspirations of young women
• cultural Tourism establishing tourist accommodation facilities
• arts creating a purpose built art teaching facility
• developing an indigenous language, culture and heritage centre;
• Digital Production developing a Digital Media Productions facility.

Peter Botsman, BAMA ISX Secretary, is encouraging people to consider travelling to Roebourne to make a presentation or to develop a proposal for the ISX website. Proposals can be sent to him by email, pbotsman@bigpond.com. He advises that presentations from the Pilbara and Ngarda region will be given preference in the order of presentation as per traditional practice.

About Trading Floors

The BAMA ISX Trading Floors help galvanise the attention of potential investors and sponsors. The aim is to support the development of as many Indigenous businesses as possible and create grassroots hope and encouragement for all Indigenous ideas, enterprise and development.

On a Trading Floor entrepreneurs can put forward their needs for investment, mentoring and other forms of support. The proceedings are webcast and video-conferenced to many sites around Australia and in the UK and US.

Enterprises serious about gaining support are recommended to make a ‘real effort’ with their on-line presentation and, if it is a commercial operation, a micro-navigator rating indicating the level of business readiness, is desirable.
