Over 400 people came from all over Victoria to see celebrity pig couple, Arnold and Precious, finally meet after their controversial long distance relationship.
You may remember Arnold’s owners’ court battle with their local council which was much covered in the newspapers and television shows.
In a much protested move, The Nillumbik Shire Council ordered that Arnold couldn’t be kept in his owners’ George and Viki Lazaridis’ Eltham home because they consider Arnold to be ‘livestock’.
So he can be deemed a pet and not livestock Arnold must be castrated. So the Pignic weekend was Arnold and Precious’ last chance at parenthood before his fateful day.
In honor of the occasion pig lovers from all over the state enjoyed a pink heart shaped cake, a watermelon feast, a piggy circus and farmers market.
This is a great and very different idea, proving that a little bit of lateral thinking – which is free – plus some hard work, and you can have a popular festival covered by the big city newspapers (read the hilarious story in The Age here) in your own backyard.
Top work, Bev!
