Westpac commendation for AustraliaForAll.com.au

A well deserved award for a huge amount of effort put in by Queensland’s Hervey Bay-based Access for All Alliance!

Sheila King PWF contributor and tireless worker for people with disabilities has emailed us with the good news that the new AustraliaForAll.com.au web site – an innovation of Access For All Alliance Inc – has received one of 10 special commendations under the National Westpac Community Idol 2007 awards scheme.

These awards were initiated to find the community group in Australia that stood out from the pack and are given to community groups that are judged to be innovative, vibrant, effective representative and participative leaders.

Access For All Alliance Inc is honoured that their new web site which is devoted to accommodation and tourist venues that are accessible to people with disabilities, has been chosen to receive one of these prestigious awards.

The Our Community website tells us that the judging of the final three groups will take place at the 2007 Communities in Control Conference ‘From Advocacy to Policy – Communities Driving Change’.

The conference takes place Monday & Tuesday 4-5 June, 2007, at Moonee Ponds, Melbourne.
