Did you hear about the Rwandan Coffee Club on the ABC’s 7.30 report this week?
“Three families who survived the genocide in Rwanda and moved to Tasmania as refugees have come up with a unique way to help those back in their homeland, selling coffee and buying cattle back home with the proceeds.”
You can make a donation or buy coffee and/or tea through the website.
Excellent quality Rwandan coffee and tea is available when it is practical to purchase container loads. Meanwhile this group is supplying premium coffees and teas from other developing nations, Fair Trade or Rainforest Alliance where possible.
The proceeds of sales and donations go towards projects within Rwanda which directly benefit genocide survivors. Vocational education and health are extremely high priorities.
Customers who purchase $100.00 or more in one order receive free postage for their product as and when they require it. You simply e-mail, phone or fax and advise when you would like a portion of your order mailed. Tabs are kept on the balance of your account and you are advised when the last shipment occurs and invited to renew your order.
If you are really moved by the Rwandan tragedy you might like to host a Rwandan tea/coffee party. As well as socialising, to spread information about the genocide and helping work against any other genocide event in the world, you will also be encouraging others to help by buying Rwandan tea and coffee through the web site.
You will be sent a kit containing coffee samples and suggestions for an easy series of steps to help you to share the genocide story. All you need is an espresso coffee machine and an internet connected computer.
The web site is a helpful tool to get the message across and the rest is easy, there is no hard sell, the quality of the product speaks for itself.
