Clearwater Filter Systems’ Sales Manager Tom Cannard called us about our Bottled Water Responsible For Huge Emissions article and he’s sent us some info about Clearwater Systems.
They have a clever slogan…
Tom says:
“Many companies just don’t know the facts about their old coolers, and are pleased to make the switch…It’s nice to come to work and know we make a difference. I enjoy knowing that I help my customers save time and money, but it’s even better knowing I am helping companies do their part in making an environmentally sound choice.”
Bottled water coolers have long been used to meet the demand in office and commercial applications for providing quality chilled drinking water. The effects on the environment of this old practice are pretty damning.
Clearwater is one of the companies encouraging Australian businesses and government departments to switch from the traditional 15L bottled drinking water cooler to the environmentally friendly, filtered water alternative, the Office Spring.
“The Department of Climate Change estimates that 200ml of oil is used to produce a single water bottle.”
Add to this the fact that up to 15L of water is wasted to clean and sanitise the re-useable bottle when Australia is still in a drought and something has to give.
Unlimited, clean drinking water is provided without the cost or inconvenience of dealing with bottled water and without harmful effects on the environment.
Clearwater offers a fixed price, value for money, service contract and Occupational Health & Safety issues related to the lifting or storing of bulky bottled water are a thing of the past.
Planet Ark founder John Dee says our quality tap water is an excellent reason to switch from bottled water especially when tap water is around 1cent per litre and bottled water costs on average $2.53 per litre in Australia.
Clearwater – founded in 1989 – have supplied over 25,000 units nationally. They provide free installation and use premium filters backed by Standards Australia certification and cooler sanitisation to the AS 9001/ 2000 Drinksafe International Standard.
Clearwater Filter Systems is a member of the Australian eco challenge and you can contact Tom Cannard for more info on 02 8962 42100 or 0419 651 427.

Don’t forget that water from the mains supply (i.e. the tap) is filtered, purified, steralised and pumped to you.
This adds up to a huge amount of CO2 use, just to get the water too you.
Bottled water, (some kinds) can be so safe to drink when it comes out of the ground that it requires no processing at all!
Just worth considering.
