From mid to late July, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle will run two-day ABCD for Inclusion Workshops facilitated by Ted Smeaton and Mike Green who have developed and run these workshops throughout North America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Both Ted and Mike are adjunct faculty members with Jody Kretzmann’s and John McKnight’s Asset Based Community Development Institute, North Western University, USA.
Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) focusses on discovering and mobilising the resources that are already present in a community.
ABCD is a particularly strong approach for supporting a productive and inclusive life for people with a disability, older people, marginalized young people, refugees, long term unemployed and people with a metal illness.
The workshops are for social innovators actively working to build more inclusive communities and are particularly relevant to people who support people with disabilities.
