Some Tips On Making Sure Your Efforts Are Worthwhile And Profitable
- Volunteers: People get pleasure of being involved, so don’t hesitate to ask for help.
- Keep an operations manual, then a few years down the track when a new committee is running ‘that event’ and people are keen to make more money than the year before – and they will think they can do it – they will begin to cut costs…the beginning of the end.
- There is nothing you cannot do and nothing you cannot get. All you have to do is find the right person to ask the question.
- Don’t be afraid to share ideas or resources with another school or organisation, they can only be a benefit to both of you.
- An ‘Open House’ event – perfect for a small organisation. Costs are low and with a bit of publicity from your local Real Estate agents you can attract large numbers of paying customers.
- A Garden Walk – also great for small organisations.
- When approaching somebody for assistance – say for a raffle prize – ask yourself ‘What is the cost to this person?’ If the cost is nothing, would you do it in their position? The answer is yes.
- The motivation of ticket sellers will be the most impostant key to the success of your raffle.
Think longterm. When you establish your event, do so in the knowledge that your event could still be going strong in another 20 years.
