The GOA (Guiding Organisations Australia) inaugural conference is now very close, 25-27 August 2008 on the Gold Coast.
The conference theme is ‘What a Great Experience’ and the program aims to raise the industry standard of Tour Guide Practices through professional development activities and familiarisation visits.
This provides an economical and time friendly alternative for operators and stakeholders, allowing delegates to register for particular sessions of interest, for example Dr Peter Tucker from DRET (Dept Resources, Energy and Tourism) talking about the Long Term National Tourism Strategy plus the National Accreditation Framework and ADS program.
There is a range of guest speakers attending from around Australia and also Malaysia, some of whom are:
Mantra Legends Hotel
Cnr. Surfers Paradise Boulevard & Laycock St
Surfers Paradise; Gold Coast Qld 4217 Australia

tourism is about ‘hosting’ guests to our country.
most of our ‘hosts’ [front office staff] dont even know what planet there on let alone ‘exceeding our guests expectation’
in my experiences, and i know after taking thousands apon thousands guests kayaking for 3 hours at a time, talking and having a wonderfull time for a great price, the only thing these front office staff exceed in emptying our guests wallets for their own short term benefit.
congratulations management companies, you collectively have ruined the honest very marketable image of australias ‘shrimp on the barby’ hospitality.start being aussies again and stop ur fears.
thank you so very much to all the awsome aussies in the 80’s and 90’s in our industry that have laid the platform of exceeding our guests experiences so that these puppets can milk as much as they can nowadays.
if you dont believe me go to a reception of any accommodation and ask the puppet some simple questions. maybe the weather forcast for the afternoon or something in a publication sitting on their reception desk etc etc i think you will be amazed.you will probably be told that its not their responsibility, or that there too busy[when you can see the solitare game on their computer]
these people weather they like it or not represent aust, and australians we all know that EXCEEDING OUR GUESTS EXPECTATIONS is the best form of marketing.
i wish i could be positive and thank you to those that do a great job, wherever you are,but really can we stop the stupitidy of trying to understand whats wrong with the marketing of our tourism industry.
