To help eradicate homelessness there is now a new website focussed on bringing together resources, knowledge and ideas from around Australia. At this IT Clearinghouse you can:
* add articles about a particular topic
* make comments about an article
* upload documents (eg a policy or a good practice case study) to share with others,
* list events,
* participate in forums with other site users.
The site has been designed to evolve and grow through input and ideas.
Minister for Housing Tanya Plibersek says,
“Sharing research through this new facility will help government, researchers, service providers and the community to determine if our responses to homelessness are working…
It will also provide links to all levels of government and homelessness organisations websites.”
A Community of Practice (CoP) is a group of people who collaborate through the use of a range of interactive communication tools to improve knowledge and good practice on a particular homelessness issue and the site offers tools and functions to support and develop CoP in the homeless sector. Travel, distance and time no longer have to be barriers to effectively working together.
There is a Clearinghouse events calendar and the events section includes a map function so people can see the location of the event and organise transport, parking and accommodation with ease.
Sounds like a good idea to improve results achieved for the dollars and effort already being put in.

Great idea!
One of the outcomes of homelessness is its relationship to travel: to appointments, interviews. Every day thousands of Australians are stranded because of transport issues and many are homeless.
Travellers Aid are currently running a survey looking at the impact of travel and who is helping who with travel issues. One idea being tested is an online system to provide on the spot bookings and info for those needing assistance. Feedback from agencies and organisations is being welcomed. Access and info regarding the survey are located at this link:
