Essentials Tourism Australia’s online newsletter reports that the traveller’s much-loved guidebook, Lonely Planet, has named Tasmania’s Bay of Fires number one in the 10 Must see regions for 2009.
Bay of Fires is described as:
“white beaches of hourglass-fine sand, Bombay Sapphire sea, an azure sky – and nobody”
Bay of Fires won out over the Basque Country of France and Spain, Chiloe in Chile and Ko Tao in Thailand for top spot.
“At the edge of Mt. William National Park, the magnificent wilderness coastline known as the Bay of Fires invites you to experience its dramatic landscape, ecology and wildlife. Led by well-informed, young Tasmanian guides, small groups can explore both the fascinating beach environment and the rich diversity of the nearby woodlands. And at the Bay of Fires Lodge, the only building in this near-uninhabited wilderness paradise, both solitude and comfort are guaranteed.”
We need to be thinking about holidays in Oz don’t we?
