PWF is pleased to pass on details about ‘A Taste Of A Positive Future’. This means enjoying dinner in beautiful NE Victoria where the popular ‘Chef’s Special Dinner’ is on again in Whitfield at the King Valley Cucina, and the community is invited to celebrate the positive stories of young men whose journeys may have easily taken a negative path.
Evolve at Typo Station is an independent not-for-profit, providing a supportive environment for disadvantaged young people to evolve into strong, caring and purposeful individuals. Evolve works with young people who are experiencing difficulties at home or school, and works closely with youth and family-focused services, schools and communities throughout Victoria
This is part of Evolve’s two-year support program undertaken with boys aged 14 to 17 who are participating in the early interventionist Young Men’s Program.
Aimed at helping disadvantaged and at-risk boys self-esteem and make positive choices for their future, the participants (who are interested in hospitality) thrive under the expert tuition of Evolve supporter and owner of the popular King Valley Cucina, Barb Sartori.
Barb along with husband Wally, operate the Cucina and every year they take a group of young men keen to learn hospitality-orientated vocational skills, apply the practical life skills developed during their Typo Station experience and give something back to the community that supported them during the process.
The young men take an active role in menu planning, purchasing, safe food handling, preparation and presentation, with their efforts culminating in a gala dinner. Delivered from start to finish by the young men, the community has come to look forward to this annual event and enjoy seeing the progress the boys have made as much as they do the delicious three course meal served up to them.
