Young Sydneysider Caroni Joseph has had a wonderful eco-business idea – a very successful one – a selection of plantable greeting cards and wedding invitations (read it….plant it…watch it grow) plus a range organic body care products…her company’s mission statement
“My Nature is not only committed to you, but to everything around you”.
The website www.mynature looks wonderful and her My Nature business has been covered by wide range of television, radio and print media.
My Nature sells a range of beauty and health care products that are natural and organically certified AND proudly 100% Australian owned and made:
Caroni believes the business success stems from a natural and eco friendly approach, commitment to service and an understanding of her clients.
Turning 24 this year, Caroni has a background in Medical science, majoring in Microbiology with a minor in Psychology. In her spare time she is involved in developing and expanding the green movement.
This is clearly the eco-generation, says Caroni. She has always believed in a holistic, alternative approach and had a vision and the desire to change and influence the people who surround her. With a passion to recycle and think outside the square and she could see the potential of green products.
Caroni first heard about the plantable card concept in the US and she says she was touched by the simple, yet magical idea. We are fortunate here in Australia being surrounded by native plants that can grow in very harsh environment, which allows the plant to have a more successful germination rate.
Like anyone starting a business from scratch, Caroni has found it difficult quitting her job and being in unfamiliar territory. She has been in business approximately eight months and there have been a lot of long hours and lots of work, while friends were relaxing on the beach at the weekend!
Caroni’s goal is to make mynature.com.au as accessible as possible to both to the green media and the corporate world. Marketing is a passion and she says she has been very fortunate, as while she was studying she also developed tele marketing and sales skills and gained a lot of confidence.
Caroni believes anyone can be sustainable and green and what she believes is the key to her success is also what she enjoys
“the passion developed by anger, desire and joy…Everyone wants to be different, but not everyone takes action to be different.”
Caroni is really proud that her company has been able to translate the concept of a plantable greeting card into a successful business product, holding true to her principles while growing sales and being recognised by the media and the Australian people.

Dear Caroni,
It is great to read about young entrepreneurs like yourself.
It is important that we ensure that any natives we plant are indigenous to the area they are planted, to ensure that they do not become weeds.
Could you please tell me how you ensure that the right plants go to the right places?
Regards, Monique
Dear Caroni,
we face uncertain times, and new challenges require fresh thinking. Your ideas will help us think differently about even the most mundane or ordinary of things and in this your work plants metaphorical as well as practical fruit. Bravo.
