The latest New Economics Foundation (nef) newsletter – from the UK – asks:
“Are you feeling fed up with the way politics currently operates? Tired of mainstream parties not taking action about the things that matter most? Furious about the expenses row? Chances are, you’re not alone. A new online campaigning community 38 degrees has launched this week with a campaign to change the law to give people the right to recall their MP if they fail to do their job.
Like nef, 38 degrees is independent of any political party and believes that building a better world is possible. We’ll be working with them over coming months, so take a look around their new site and make your voice heard. 38 degrees has been inspired by similar online campaigning sites such as the international Avaaz.org and the US-based MoveOn.org which helped sweep Barack Obama from outsider candidate to President last year.”
The nef about community participation and democracy… communities need power and influence …..my reaction was ‘In your dreams!’ but, ARE things changing?
