Melbourne’s Xris Reardon from Third-Way Theatre reminds us about the up and coming 3-day workshop on the Art of Peace starting Friday 18 September. The workshop will be run jointly by Xris and Richard Barber from Makhampon, Thailand.

About The Art of Peace Workshop

This will be a 3-day intensive Train the Trainer workshop that explores:

  • creative techniques
  • visual art exercises
  • theatrical games to explore participatory, action-reflection
  • techniques in peace building and conflict transformation

The 3 day program will include:

  • Personal and Social Conflict Mapping
  • Applied games fro Consciousness-Raising
  • Image Theatre for Problem Solving

Richard Barber works with the Makampom foundation in Thailand and has 20 years of practice in diverse conflict situations in the Asia-Pacific region. He has
developed this ‘Art of Peace’ methodology.

Xris Reardon, Artistic Director of Third-Way Theatre, has worked with diverse communities both in Melbourne and overseas on issues related to prisonisation, domestic violence, racism and homophobia, mental health, poverty, etc.

Richard and Xris’s work references Paolo Freire, Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, and uses a community cultural development approach.

Date September 18/19/20th (Friday/Sat/Sunday)
Times 9:30 – 4:30 pm
Costs $195 Concession / $235 Full / $300 Organizations /Institutions.

Participants will receive a copy of The Art of Peace, Makhampom’s trainer’s manual for peace building and conflict resolution.
