Country events funding of $74,500 for 24 regional organisations that deliver sports, music, visual arts, food and wine and multicultural festival events across Victoria has recently been announced by Tourism and Major Events Minister Louise Asher.

Interstate And International Recognition For Supported Events

The following CVEP supported events are being well received:

  • Harvest Moon Festival – In Bendigo, Central Victoria, this event is part of the Chinese Spring Festival, celebrated throughout the world, that brings together a wide range of artists, schools and community groups.
  • Weekend Fit for a King
  • Held over the Queens’s Birthday weekend June 11-13, this festival celebrates an Italian heritage of over 60 years in NE Victoria’s King Valley, Australia’s Little Italy.

  • La Dolce Vita is also based in the King Valley wine region. Over the weekend November 19-20 you can enjoy Mediterranean and new release wines including new flavours and textures of varieties such as Prosecco, Petit Manseng, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Sangiovese and Tempranillo. Authentic Mediterranean meals are prepared by the wine making families.
  • The Pyrenees Escapade
  • A European wine and food weekend with local wines and European inspired dishes and a village square atmosphere at the Avoca Turf Club- Melbourne Cup weekend in November..’all the best that Europe has to offer… just up the road from Ballarat!’

  • Seville’s annual Shedfest Wine Festival in the Yarra Valley, 8-9 October 2011, when wineries open their sheds for a two-day wine and food feast
  • Geelong’s Toast to the Coast – Melbourne Cup Weekend
  • The Heathcote Wine and Food Festival – 8-9 October 2011
  • Shepparton’s KidsFest – September 24-25 2011
  • Euroa Show and Shine – Veteran, Vintage and Classic Car Show, Sunday 2 October 2011
  • Lorne’s inaugural Festival of Performing Arts – 9-11 September 2011, which will highlight the creativity and innovation of regional communities across Victoria

About CVEP Funding

This program is for event organisers, local government and other relevant groups to increase visitor numbers, length of stay and visitor yield at events.

Event organisers can apply to Tourism Victoria for funding at any time. Contact Brendan Downey, Group Manager Events, on (03) 96539883 or e-mail brendan.downey@tourism.vic.gov.au to discuss an application.

The Country Victoria Events Program (CVEP) provides up to $10,000 per event to assist with event development.

Closing dates for applications for the CVEP are April 1 and October 1 annually.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their application at least 6 months prior to the event.
