Computerbank in West Melbourne is a non profit organisation that recycles computers/ewaste and offers refurbished computers at low prices for people with an Australian Commonwealth Concession Card or Health Care Card or proof of low income.
Computerbank can also help students.
Prices are from $30 for P4 2.4GHz & 15″ LCD. The software they install on the refurbished computers is Ubuntu linux (free open source
software).
A volunteer there tells us they are ethical with their recycling and the computers and followup service they offer to people.
NB if the computers people want to recycle are too old and can’t be refurbished then a recycling fee will be incurred.
Check out the website or call Computerbank on (03) 9600 9161.
