BUT
Dr Lech Keller-Krawczyk PhD (Monash), MA (Melbourne), BComm (Warsaw) has emailed us saying:
“For the last several years I have been sending numerous applications for a job to various Australian universities, but even though I have an Aussie PhD and MA, I have been unable to get even a telephone interview.
I call this simply racism, as I obtained in past years several academic positions in Europe (as in attached CV).”
Lech is a researcher at the Centro de Estudos Transdisciplinares para o Desenvolvimento (CETRAD)
Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Vila Real, Portugal, http://www.cetrad.info/?action=pessoas/viewPerson&id=90.

What DOES go on in our academic world?

It is very unfortunate to not get contacted by any university, but I have some friends from Hungary, Poland and Croatia teaching or working on experiments at various universities just in Sydney. I can not tell anything about other areas, but around Sydney I would not call the universities racist. Give it another try.
Thanks for this positive comment
