June 8, 2007The Australian makers of The Thin Green Line, a new documentary on the world’s park rangers, invite everyone to join in on their film’s premiere.
Sean Willmore, a Park Ranger from Warringine Park in Victoria sold his car and remortgaged his house three times to make The Thin Green Line.
The idea to make the film about the world’s park rangers front line battle for conversation came when he met other rangers from around the world an International Park Rangers Congress in 2003. By filming rangers at work he wanted to open up a different way of looking at and communicating the wonders of our world and the daily threats to its very survival.
Sean spent most of 2004 filming the lives and stories of rangers on 6 continents and 19 countries and reckons he’s lucky to be alive after some incredible experiences including volcanoes, a charging elephant in South Africa, deadly anti poaching patrols in Uganda, South Africa, Galapagos and India, violent threats from rebel soldiers, helicopter rescues in the Rockies and protests in remote fishing and poaching communities.
Sounds like a hoot!
According to the film’s website, “filming the journey inspired Sean to deepen his belief in the devoted men and women who sometimes give their lives for their devotion to nature, people and conservation. The “Rangers’ heart” helps them cope with corruption, poor re-sourcing, ignorance, politics and greed.”
The film’s premiere will take place in 500 locations in up to 50 countries in the one night of July 31st.
And the documentary makers are inviting you host your own world premiere.
Just register your interest online for a DVD and promotional pack and to hold your own private premiere, or organise a public one. There could be one person, or hundreds – it’s up to you!
Once you have confirmed your intention to host a premiere it will feature on our Google Earth map as a dot point, and for the public premieres all the information for your premiere will be attached to your dot on the world map.
This is a not for profit project. 100% of the profits raised through the world premieres, documentary sales and sponsorships will be returned to support rangers, including the International Ranger Dependency Fund, which supports the families of Rangers who are killed in the line of duty.

Dear Thin Green Line people,
This film sounds great and your marketing idea is brilliant. I am Secretary of the Friends of Merri Creek and we would be interested in hosting a premiere showing. However, if we cannot make anything out the showing, you seem to be asking groups like ours for a lot of effort with no reward. Or have I misinterpreted your requirement for ALL profits to be reimbursed to the International Ranger Dependency Fund?

I will be showing this in my cinema for the worldwide premiere on 31st July and I encourage all Tasmanians to come along and support this. 100% of proceeds will go to the Fund on this night.
What we all can do to help Sean ! its free and only takes a little time is to contact media outlets eg, ABC , local cinemas , papers , we want to raise awareness of the international rangers foundation and Sean’s movie.
