On Friday 5 August cafes with a social conscience right around Australia – serving great coffee of course – will donate $1.00 per coffee sold to fund local projects to help homeless people.
Taking place during National Homeless Persons’ Week, 1-7 August 2011, Adam Robinson, founder of StreetSmart,
‘a unique bridge between those that want to help people experiencing homelessness and the grassroots agencies that are changing lives’
is asking people who want to help simply to buy their coffees on Friday 5th at participating cafes and consider making an extra donation online.
StreetSmart is also teaming up with coffee roasters around Australia who will be supporting cafes through supplying discounted coffee beans on the day.
‘Grab a coffee and help the homeless’ is something we can all do.
To date this organisation has raised $1.6 million and 100% of donations has been and will continue to be distributed through the StreetSmart community grants system, which provide vital support services such as meals and accommodation and also help tackle homelessness through innovative strategies that promote social inclusion and empowerment for those people experiencing homelessness.
Have a coffee and you will also be supporting longer term solutions to help people move out of homelessness.
In all StreetSmart has funded over 272 projects around Australia.
