Free Sunday Party At Yarraville: So Far So Good Celebration!

Yarraville Community Centre (YCC) and Blackwood Neighbourhood House are putting on a FREE event everyone’s invited this Sunday 9 December. It’ll be a celebration of the efforts of so many within the community to save the iconic Francis Street building. A restoration fund is up and running and this success is something to share. Come and enjoy:

About The Iconic Yarraville Community Centre

The building is nearly 120 years old – constructed in 1889 as the first Yarraville Primary School. The Centre began to run programs and services from the building in 1975. Unfortunately, engineers estimate it will cost $5 million to restore – a public-private sector working group was set up this year and to date a a total of $3.74 million has been committed jointly between Federal, State and Local governments.

Hiya…

There’s an event this coming Sunday (as in 9 December) and I am fessing up in the hope that it might entice you (or it could repulse you, depending…) to come along.

This is the program for the day, in which you will note a band called The Restoration Project, scheduled to perform around 3.30ish.

The thing is – I am not claiming to be one of the nation’s finest musicians, but this band really does include one of Oz’s best violin players plus an internationally renowned percussion player and a grouse bassist. (No lies) I sing and play rhythm guitar.

We have come together at the last minute, so to speak, to fill in a gap as there was a pull out on the program. We will be ‘The Restoration Project’ for one day only, and this is your chance to see us – and boost crowd numbers. This is perhaps the only time the four of us will be in the one band at the one time, unless something amazing happens such as Dicko turning up and telling us we’re better than Guy and he wants us on tour (which is kinda buckleys or none odds, and we’d probably say thanks but…).

Anne Hulls is the project worker extraordinaire for the event and has pulled together a mighty fine market atmosphere.

It’s gonna be a hoot, so think about it. I cant promise you’ll love the Restoration Project, but as they say in the Castle, it’s the spirit of the thing! And you will love the market, can buy yourself some unique Chrissy gifts, have some good food, check out an amazing old building. Like I said
– think about it.
