After reporting on the benefits of the electric car for some years AND on how the US car industry killed the first generation of electric cars in the 1990s, Co-op America is pressuring all its members to talk to local car dealers and demand better from Detroit. They’ve produced an online toolkit with talking points, sample letters etc.
Could we do something like this to speed up increasing the wattage for electric bikes here?
Back to electric cars…
• Plug-ins powered by electricity from wind or solar can be 100-percent emissions-free.
• Plug-ins charged with coal power still produce 30 percent fewer greenhouse gases than conventional gasoline vehicles.
• Plug-ins cost less per mile, the equivalent of 75 cents per gallon.
• Plug-ins can be a reality now. Current technology has been proved to work, and the current electrical grid could already power 73 percent of our commutes.

There were good all electric cars before WW2 and after in the late 1950’s, They were cheap and clean, I don’t know why we swapped to petrol. Some old electric cars had two battery arrays, one in use while the other recarged on-the-go from the on board alternator / generator as the car moved under the power of the in-use battery array, the batterys were 90v DC or AC with the electronic circuit.
Hmmm I wonder why .Me thinks that forebears and colleagues of good ol George dubya and Sharpshootin Dick had sumptin to do with it
Seriously now ,petrol driven cars don’t have the range issues that electric do .Oil was easily found and extracted with good returns to the investor and the cars that used it were likewise,If you wanna drive 500 km with petrol the main problem now and in the future is price ,which is why people are looking at alternates
