International Co-operatives Conference Port Macquarie October 2012

2012 is the United Nations International Year of Co-operatives (IYC). The National Conference at Port Macquarie, 24-26 October, will see Australian co-operatives come together under the banner of an International Year to celebrate their successes and raise awareness about the role of co-operatives and mutuals in the Australian economy.

About The Conference

There will be more than 50 leading national and international co-operative thinkers for two days of debate and discussion examining:

• the role of co-operatives in local economies
• regional and agricultural development
• the future of co-operative growth
• new law and regulation
• building stronger boards and the members of tomorrow

International guest speaker Mikel Lezamiz will explain why ‘Mighty Mondragon’ – an alternative to capitalism, Spain’s seventh largest corporation and the world’s largest worker co-op – is defying the Eurozone crisis.
