Greg has contacted PWF looking for Grey Nomad work. He says he would like register his interest in helping out people in the outback – property owners or business owners. Greg writes:
“I retired in June this year and have been on the road in my caravan since. The last 10 weeks I have been on the Sunshine Coast catching up with family and grand children.
Helped Blazeaid
From mid June to early August I volunteered at 2 camps, one in NSW at Bribbaree and the other at Dunkeld in QLD, to work with Blazeaid to help farmers repair and replace fences that were damaged in the Feb2012 floods. It was very rewarding and satisfying work as we were helping farmers in a week or two repair fences that would have taken them a year to do on their own. They were getting little help from anywhere else, and were very appreciative of our help.
My Previous Life
Prior to retiring I had a dry carpet cleaning business in Melbourne which I ran for 11 years.
I have also had a concrete business and stump grinding business on the Sunshine Coast, an educational book business in Darwin for 8 years and been an international travel consultant for 14 years.
For the last 4 years I have been a volunteer driver for the Leukaemia Foundation twice a month.
I have painted the odd house or two, just completed restoring a timber deck on the Coast.
I have also travelled around Australia twice. I am presently housesitting for friends, looking after animals and the garden, in the Glasshouse Mountains(Peachester).
About me And The Immediate Future
I am 66 years old, travelling alone, and consider myself reasonably fit.
I have recently received a Blue Card I have an MR driving licence.
I am looking for things to do in early 2013. I am prepared to work for little or no pay, but would like to put my caravan on a free site, require shower/toilet, have meals supplied and reimbursed for any fuel used.”
