Corporates And Volunteering – Great Results All Around

Victoria’s Infoxchange Australia reports that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a key part of many large businesses’ contribution to building and maintaining the social fabric of the community.

Some Corporate Volunteer Projects

1. The Infoxchange-led ‘Wired Community@Collingwood’ project was recently highlighted in a report celebrating 10 years of corporate volunteering at National Australia Bank (NAB).

NAB volunteers helped to deliver computer training to residents of the Collingwood Housing Estate, and, along with Telstra, NAB donated desktops and hardware through the ‘Helping Hand’ Initiative.

“The Helping Hand Project will fulfil its full potential by combining the donation of assets with skilled volunteering opportunities for our tech savvy people – this is what’s going to make the difference and why we’re so excited about the Collingwood Project,” said Julia Tzanakakis, Helping Hand Steering Committee member.

2. ANZ Bank staff members also trained residents as part of the project. One ANZ employee said “volunteering has been taken to a whole new level of meaning” after his participation.

“The impact of our contribution is real and immediate and I cannot wait to get to work tomorrow to spread the word,” he said.

It’s not just corporate volunteers though. Members of the community have also been valuable volunteers in projects like ‘Wired Community@Collingwood’, such as civic volunteer David Cunnington.

“It’s been great working with the (project) team. It’s so organised, has great energy and is having a big impact on people’s lives,” said David.
