Australians have a strong core value of basic justice and fairness and on Sunday 19 June, World Refugee Day, rallies around the country will ask for permanent protection for all refugees and an end to mandatory detention.
Rural Australians for Refugees (RAR) will rally in Sydney. Chilout, Chilout – a ‘children out of detention’ movement will welcome Dr Jocelyn Scutt as keynote speaker at a Victorian rally marching to the Fitzroy Townhall.
The Victorian Refugee Action Collective (RAC) will rally at 12 noon at the Melbourne Museum, on the corner of Nicholson and Gertrude Streets, Carlton and they will also march to the Fitzroy Townhall to join Multicultural Arts Victoria’s Refugee and Asylum Seeker Festival.
