EnviroProducts: ionisation & ‘ozone’ bringing relief for allergy sufferers

EnviroProducts’ Russ Moody, a long-term hay fever sufferer, is passionate about ions and ‘ozone’, his EcoQuest air purifier dealership and the post-thunderstorm air freshness he believes his range of machines produces indoors through ionisation and electronic ozone generation.

There is an increasing occurrence of sick building syndrome, early-age onset of allergies and asthma, plus a frequent commercial need to free, not mask, indoor airspace of smoke, bacteria, dustmites, sawdust, odours, fumes etc. Studies have shown that indoor air can be up to 50 times more contaminated than the air outside. Russ sees a huge market for these air purifiers in the home, the workplace and the car.

HOW DOES IONISATION CLEAN THE AIR?
Nature cleans the air through rain, thunderstorms and sunlight – ‘ionisation’. Ions are tiny particles carrying a charge of electricity, predominately negative – but opposites attract. Duplicating nature, air purifiers emit electrical energy into indoor airspace energising charged particles of dust, smoke, pollen etc ‘ionising’ the air, causing particles to clump together and finally fall to the ground leaving fresh, clean air. As with the outdoors, ions need to be available for this process to continue effectively.

CONCENTRATED (ACTIVATED) OXYGEN & OZONE
Ozone exists when oxygen molecules are concentrated together in great quantities, over 50 parts per million or more. Concentrated oxygen is to ozone as a seed is to a tree.

Lightning creates an abundance of concentrated oxygen. High voltage breaks apart the two standard atoms that make up our atmosphere but they quickly regroup in clusters of three or more. Wanting to undo this unstable trio, one atom will break away and attach to a contaminant, chemically de-composing or ‘oxidising’ it. Once done, we are left with O2, which we regularly breathe. Very ‘green’. Organisms like many bacteria and fungi can’t survive in elevated oxygen levels and will die with two hours of treatment. Dust-mites are a special casualty of this chemical-free process.
