FAB, a national mentoring programme and enterprise training agency,began in response to requests from young indigenous entrepreneurs for practical advice and support to develop and maintain their businesses. It was developed by The Body Shop in conjunction with the Federal Government and the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders Commission (ATSIC).
FAB mentors are drawn from a variety of business backgrounds and provide their services free of charge to young indigenous business people. FAB is based in Brisbane and operates a national service without cost to young entrepreneurs under the age of 30. It has an independent board of directors made up of members from the business and education communities.
FAB provides business mentors from a variety of backgrounds to assist with:
1)Development of business plans;
2)Identification of resources;
3)Developing relationships with other organisations;
4)Managing day to day business issues;
5)Marketing;
6)Training and development plans;
7)Industry specific issues.
