There are training Workshops developed from the work by Augusto Boal with International practitioners coming up In MARCH and APRIL in Melbourne.
This will be a joint venture between Stage Left Productions, Canada – one of the six world-wide centres for the Theatre of The Oppressed – and Third?Way Theatre, Australia, co?facilitated by Michele Decottignies and Xris Reardon.
1. THEATRE FOR SOCIAL CHANGE / AN INTRODUCTION TO THE WORK OF THIRD WAY THEATRE AND STAGE LEFT, PHILOSOPHIES AND PRACTICES PLUS THEATRE OF THE OPPRESSED TECHNIQUES
WHO Anyone interested in understanding how theatre can be used as a tool for strengthening understandings, about hard to address social issues.
FOCUS History of TO, image making, sculpting, games, group building exercises, trust exercises, intro to FORUM theater and the role of “the joker”.

2. THE WORK OF THE ‘JOKER’ – FACILITATING THE WORK OF FORUM THEATRE (An Intensive)
WHO Engaged or emerging community theatre practitioners, community development workers, arts activist, educators, other individuals who have some knowledge or experience in the methods/work of Augusto BOAL).
FOCUS The intensive will focus on getting the workshop of the ground (ethical considerations, during the workshop) performance making, joking, post show considerations.

Presented by Makhampon (Thailand) and Third-Way Theatre (Australia) a workshop aimed at exploring the role of theatre in peace building and restorative justice.
