A Hurstbridge Wildlife Fund has been set up by Drs Adam Russell and Chris Andrews, vets at Hurstbridge on the fringe of the fires. Adam’s email was passed on to me. He says:
“A few people have asked how they can help with the fires with regards wildlife. At our clinic in Hurstbridge we are now seeing a lot of burnt pets and wildlife. We always treat and medicate wildlife totally for free.
We are also offering free service to everyone affected – whatever is needed – and have had donations of antibiotics, pet food, which is great but these won’t last forever.
The fire areas of Kinglake and St Andrews are opening up today and we are hoping to start establishing an animal centre there to move animals then down to the clinic.
If anyone wants to donate anything to the bushfires then I think Red Cross is giving all donations to people affected.
If anyone wanted to send donations to the wildlife plus peoples’ domestic pets then I have opened an account at Bendigo Bank to help fund further expenses, such as pain relief, anaesthetic gas, bandages and antibiotics. A lot of the dogs for example with burnt feet will have to have multiple anaesthetics, bandage changes etc, as do the koalas possums etc.
The account I have set up is listed below.
Thanks, Adam.
The account is a Bendigo Bank account: Hurstbridge Wildlife Fund
BSB: 633000
Account: 36245461Sorry is not tax deductable as it is just a normal account, as there was no quick way to set up charity.”
You can also send a cheque to Hurstbridge Veterinary Clinic, 911 Main Road, Hurstbridge, Vic, 3099, Australia.
The Hurstbridge Bendigo Bank Branch can confirm the account has been established by the vets for this purpose. Their phone number is: (03) 9718 0431 and email HurstbridgeMailbox@bendigobank.com.au.
You can contact Adam by email adamrussell79@gmail.com or by phone at the Hurstbridge Veterinary Clinic on (03) 9718 1515.
I’ve contributed – will you?
