Perth has won the prestigious 2005 UK Guardian Observer and Guardian Unlimited Travel Award category of ‘Favourite Overseas City. Sydney came second ahead of Hong Kong, Krakow, Tallinn (Estonia) and Cape Town.

Perth, not ranked in the top ten in 2004, scored a winning total of 96.8%, closely followed by the previous winner, Sydney on 96.7%.
