More than 4,000 Singapore visitors came to Tasmania in the year ending June 2005 with a further 6,500 visitors coming from neighbouring Asian countries.
Tourism Tasmania will target consumers directly through email, offering a free map offer to stimulate intention to travel to Tasmania. Free touring maps of Tasmania will also be inserted in Singapore publications such as I-Weekly, Eight Days, Singapore Women’s Weekly and Highway magazine.
The aim is to provide Singapore consumers with the tools to make a self-drive holiday in Tasmania easy, with four itineraries developed to cater for different demographics. The touring map has been adjusted specifically for the Singapore market.
The ‘Best of Australia’ campaign by Tourism Australia already includes a Tasmanian self-drive package that is distributed by 16 travel agents – the Touring Map distribution is expected to leverage off this promotion.

I was V interested to read this article but noted that it is from 2005.
I wonder whether:-
a) Tourism Tas did do the insert
b) whether they tracked it and if it worked
c) whether there is more up to date information on #’s from Asia
look forward to feedback, Coreene
