The Ghan has recently been voted Australia’s best innovative tourism experience by readers of ‘The Australian’ and this legendary Adelaide-Darwin train service, covering 2,979 kms, will double its service from March 2006.
Guests have two nights aboard the Ghan. They enjoy an excellent bar and dining car, having their bed turned down (!) as well as spectacular central Australian landscapes – the rusty, red MacDonnell Ranges around Alice Springs, Katherine’s magnificent gorges and the Top End’s tropical vistas. You can get off to stretch your legs at places of interest along the way such as Kalgoorlie and Broken Hill.
Connections are available on the Indian Pacific (Sydney-Adelaide-Perth)and The Overland (Melbourne-Adelaide) for guests travelling to or from Sydney and Melbourne.
