A Victorian building business, interested in ‘going green’, has contacted us through Green Map Community hopeful that we might be able to give some leads.
Based in Reservoir in Melbourne’s north this business would like to team up and create business relationships with other eco-driven small businesses.
This would mean they could ‘get and give’ their customers the benefits of current government grants and incentives, in keeping with their personal and business goals and the bigger picture.
The idea of collective community efforts towards towards sustainable developments and renewable energy, as well as actively reducing individuals’ and households’ carbon footprint is very appealing and this business’ goal.

The Carbon Down program aims to inform small businesses about carbon and help them to reduce it. The program’s fledgling Compass website offers carbon reducing solutions, information and resources.
Currently there are 60 solutions on the site and businesses are being invited to rate these in terms of their value and relevance to small business. (It has been suggested we could add ‘Pigs Will Fly’ as a solution!)
If you are interested in getting your business’ profile on Compass, on rating solutions, or adding a solution, then visit: www.carbondown.com.au/compass.
Carbon Down is a joint initiative of the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) and the Victorian Government.
Thanks to PWF reader Lane Burdett of www.businessresources.com.au who has put us in touch with the program.
There is a special offer for the first businesses who add their business and rate three solutions. Visit: http://www.carbondown.com.au/compass/founding-businesses for more details.
You are asked to please keep in mind that Compass is still being developed so if there are any problems please contact the Compass team. They are happy to help.
