“Chance of a Lifetime” for world class excitement
Four young people between 10-14 years of age left Darwin yesterday for a wonderful opportunity to experience the hoo-haa that will be Melbourne and the Commonwealth Games over the next few weeks.
Two boys and two girls – Leroy Daly from Daly River, Jerry Wilson from Maningrida, Jaiden Preece-Forrester from Alice Springs and Vanetty Fernandes from Darwin – were nominated through the Active After Schools Communities and the Indigenous Sports programs.
The “Chance of a Lifetime” is an NT Government initiative, based on nominations received detailing the level of involvement of the young people in their community, both on and off the field, plus their personal circumstances.
The itinerary while in Melbourne includes the Opening Ceremony, tickets to the hockey, rugby 7s, squash, tennis, table tennis and other activities such as a trip to the Victorian Institute of Sport, the AFL Hall of Fame and a chance to meet some of the stars of the Western Bulldogs.
Let’s hope Melbourne lives up to expectations!!
