Qld’s Tourism Industry Crisis Management Plan activated
Businesses affected by last week?s Cyclone Larry are now able to apply for government assistance. Tourism operators can access assistance forms at Centrelink.
Operators need to read all the terms and conditions carefully before making any application, as there are restrictions on the number of applications that can be made by a single claimant.
Tourism Qld is working with Qld Tourism Industry Council, Townsville Enterprise Ltd and Tourism Tropical North Qld to assess the situation on the ground and determine the ‘appropriate responses’.
To date, the crisis response group has continued to manage media enquiries making sure international travel organisations, operators and tourists are staying informed.
TQ is also working with Regional Tourism Organisations, revising cooperative marketing campaigns to make sure there’s plenty about Queensland in the media after Easter.
The majority of tourism operators are largely unaffected by the cyclone and have resumed operations. Townsville and Tropical North Queensland are open for business.
