Situated approximately 720 kilometres from Adelaide the Council of Streaky Bay serves a population of around 2,000 people. The region is recognised for its relaxed lifestyle, beautiful beaches and pristine bays along a rugged coastline of some 430 kilometres. Major industries include farming, fishing, aquaculture, mining and tourism. The Corporate Services Manager will report directly to the CEO. Key responsibilities include the management of corporate administration, strategic / financial planning, human resources, contract and financial management, information technology and the general management of community services. You will need highly developed problem solving and decision making skills as well as a proven track record in financial planning and management within a corporate framework. Written and verbal communication skills of the highest order are essential. Tertiary qualifications in management/business will be highly regarded. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, Council are seeking a progressive and energetic individual to join the executive services team to provide human resource management to Council’s 76 strong workforce. Key responsibilities of the role include managing human resources systems to ensure Council meets its legal responsibilities with industrial relations matters, Occupational Health and Safety and workers compensation rehabilitation and claims management. The position will also be responsible for risk management within the Council, and linking these functions into Council’s Strategic Planning and policy development processes. Council requires a driven and outcome focussed person with well developed and proven negotiation, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain positive relationships with staff. Relevant experience in the human resources field that includes occupational health and safety is essential with tertiary qualifications being desirable.
