Water, Mullumbimby And Ethiopian Kids…

Ross and Marianne Allen from Mullumbimby are heading off for Tigray province in Ethiopia as part of their water wells project. Ross says:

“We’ve been associated with the wells programme since 2002, having seen first hand the villagers’ need for wells and the potential for clean water to dramatically improve their lives. Encouraged by those who joined us on our journey, we formally established the Wellwishers Trust in 2007 through which we continue to raise funds for this rewarding initiative. We hope we can count on your support too.”

What Does Wellwishers DO?

They fund the construction of hand dug water wells in the rural villages of Tigray Province, Ethiopia, to provide clean water which eliminates water-borne diseases that cause high infant mortality and other health problems.

They are a group of individual Australians making a difference by raising money.

What Is The Current Situation?

As a result of almost ten years of effort, Wellwishers have around 1,000 people on their mailing list who generously contribute to saving lives, bringing fresh water to a country where 20% of children die before they reach five years of age.decided to save lives in Ethiopia, raising further finance to dig down through solid rock to water 20m below ground.

One hundred thousand people have now benefited from using fresh water wells. Over half the population still does not have access to fresh water and women walk many miles each day carrying buckets.
