‘BP OiL Spill Gelato’ – NZ Business Support For Alabama

The awful images of oil soaked pelicans off the Louisianna/Alabama Gulf Coast have horrified us all…Giapo, an Auckland-based Gelato store, is doing something about it.

It has launched a ‘BP Oil Spill’ flavoured gelato with the idea of donating $1 from every sale to the Alabama Coastal Foundation, which is ‘hands on’ with rescue efforts.

The special gelato will be chocolate with streams of chocolate fudge and an upside down chocolate fish.

Proprietor Gianpaolo Grazioli says

“Although far away, we can not sit idly by and watch these poor animals suffer, we need to do something to help…

We wanted to make a donation direct to one of the local bird rescue organisations but can’t as we’ve been told that BP are responsible for all these things; and we didn’t think it would go down well if we said we would give $1.00 from every gelato to BP – this just doesn’t sound right…

We will only have the BP Oil Spill Gelato on sale for a short time until the end of June, so help us help the birds and wildlife in the Gulf of Mexico, come in and see us; and please tell all your friends.
