I heard about this handmade website after admiring a most unusual belt. Bec Davis runs www.madeit.com.au, a 100% handmade online market, showcasing Australia’s most creative, undiscovered art, design and craft talent. Buyers can choose from fashion, art, homewares, accessories, stationery, children and babies clothing and toys.
SELLING ON MADEIT
Anyone can sell their products on madeit as long as their products are independently designed or made. It doesn’t matter if you create for a living or as a hobby, BUT sellers must live in Australia and only handmade items and handmade supplies can be sold on madeit.
Visit help selling page for more information on selling.
BUYING ON MADEIT
When buying handmade on madeit you know you’re buying direct from the seller. Madeit provides the space for sellers and buyers to connect.
Payment is made direct to the seller who ships the goods to you directly. Sellers may offer discount postage on multiple items, so you should check the item listing for postage discounts.
Bec and her partner Jayc began madeit in July 2007.
Bec studied photography after high school, worked in the field then moved to London and returned to study graphic design.
She loves going to the markets, creating, baking and gardening and she says she’s addicted to the internet.
Bec started with a directory for independent designers in 2006, as back then a google search for independent designers was like finding a needle in a haystack.
The directory grew and the next step was to open the shop.
Bec loves watching sellers grow their businesses and seeing sellers make their first sale and she loves getting feedback from her buyers and sellers.
She also love the fact that there is a group of people who have a common interest although they live in many different parts of Australia and come together as one big handmade family.
Check out the madeit blog.
You can email Bec sales@madeit.com.au, write to P.O. Box 649, Yamba, NSW, Australia 2464, and/or sign up for madeit newsletter.
