NAIDOC Week celebrates the culture and chievements of Indigenous peoples. A new multimedia ‘Indigital Centre’ located in Carlton, Melbourne will train Indigenous youth in Web Design, CD ROM, DVD and audio CD techniques to record their stories of culture and survival.
As each digital project is completed it will be showcased on www.fraynework.com.au a purpose built website sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.
The Indigital Centre will provide young people with focussed multimedia training that could lead to further education or employment. A range of skills in the music industry will be on offer: band management, sound management, sound technician skills and event management.
Shane Howard, lead singer of Goanna gave his support to the project by performing his anthem ‘Solid Rock’ with rising Indigenous musicians Gary Saunders, Casey Atkinson and other Centre students.
