Every year around 50,000 people use the Murray to the Mountains Railtrail in Victoria’s NE. The fifth railtrail brochure, targetting both Australian and international visitors, is currently underway and is being designed to include:
– where people can stay and eat;
– list things to do;
– list what to look for;
– indicate where trail services are.
Over 100 regional businesses are involved in the marketing program and not all are on the trail itself. The trail serves as a ‘spine’ and there are many things to do along the ‘ribs’ ie the Milawa and Yackandandah areas.
The brochure should be launched in time for the Spring tourist season and businesses participating in the marketing program will be listed on the www.railtrail.com.au website.
The Murray to the Mountains Railtrail is a collaborative effort shared by the Alpine and Indigo Shires and the Rural City of Wangaratta. The trail runs along the historic Ovens Valley and Mayday Hills railway lines. It is a 98 km recreational trail linking Wangaratta, Beechworth, Everton, Myrtleford and Bright.
