Planet Ark’s Million Tree Spree Plan for Tree Day’s 10th Birthday

Planet Ark is calling on schools, community groups and individuals to help it plant more than one million trees in one weekend – this year National Tree Day is July 31st and Schools’ Tree Day will take place on July 29th.

Last year 250,000 volunteers planted over a million native trees at more than 3200 sites and more than seven million native trees have been planted as part of Planet Ark’s Tree Day effort. All this helps combat serious problems like salinity, erosion and loss of habitat for native bird and animal species. Helping wildlife is a key aim for Tree Day 2005 says PLanet Ark founder John Dee.

Tree Day has attracted some high-profile tree lovers over the years including Olivia Newton-John, Jamie Durie and Pierce Brosnan and is supported by long time sponsors Toyota and the AMP Foundation.
