The main objectives of the position are to assist in the development of the WPCP?s 2006-2009 Wimmera Healthy Communities Plan, and in the development and implementation of coordinated primary care services within the Wimmera region. The position has a particular focus on community development and health promotion. To undertake this role successfully, you will need to have an understanding of the primary care service system and Primary Care Partnerships; relevant tertiary qualifications; knowledge and experience in the planning, delivery and evaluation of health promotion and/or community development programs; and a clear understanding of the concept of integrated health promotion. You will also require sound consultation, problem solving and group process skills and experience, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Daffodil Day is the largest national single fundraising day for cancer research, education and patient support in the southern hemisphere. It is held annually in August in all states of Australia by the state member organisations of The Cancer Council Australia. The Daffodil Day CBD Project Officer will form part of the core Daffodil Day team responsible for the full coordination and implementation of the Daffodil Day campaign within the CBD on Friday 25 August 2006. The CBD Project Officer will use high level skills in relationship management, communication, negotiation and recruitment to coordinate approximately 50 CBD sites, and over 300 volunteers.
