After heaps of volunteer hours’ work there is now an eco heritage hall for hire – or free to community groups – close to public transport in the heart of South Melbourne.
This 120 year old space can seat up to 300 for a performance or it can be set up for any special event. Click here for a tour of the building.

FOE has announced the development of an Eco Market style operation at this location in South Melbourne.
FOE runs a ‘Real Food Campaign’ and this site will become a new community hub that reconnects people to a sense of place and belonging – a community hub of social enterprise, markets and food production. It is tentatively being called South Melbourne Commons.
The site will feature, a cafe, food cooperative, grocery store and deli with a weekly Saturday Eco Market operation starting later in the year. Weekly workshops and community activities will be a common occurrence.
A seasonal food pocket guide is now available for free download.
The guide will tell you what fresh produce is in season each month for the Melbourne and surrounding area.
We are reminded that one way of reducing our daily ecological footprint is eating sustainably produced, locally grown, in-season food from small independent shops.

Are there any other eco halls we can list?
