A History Of Non-Petrol Using Cars
- In 1996 General Motors produced EV1 – Electric Vehicle 1 – in California. 10 years later the leases on these cars were not extended and they were destroyed.
- In 1997 Nissan produced the Hyper Mini in Tokyo. In 2006 these cars were taken back and destroyed. (PWF notes that Nissan released a new Hyper Mini in February 2012)
- Toyota discontinued the 1997-2003 lease on the RAV4 EV, recalled and destroyed many of these vehicles. (PWF notes that Toyota plans to release an updated version in late 2012)
- BMW produced a car that ran on hydrogen – 10 years ago!
- Hummers are operated by hydrogen.
- Last year Genepax produced a car that runs on water.
